Gotta go. Eric had 14 ton of rock delivered today and a bunch of sand. Gotta go move it off the street.

Memorial Day 08

Well Marcus is an Alumni!!! He graduated last night to applause and congratulations. We are proud of him. How does everyone know him!!!

We got back from the Mountains in time for his Seminary graduation last Sunday. He was stunning!!!

We had a great time in the mountains and had a family picnic. Grandma McCleve made this apron for all the girls camp leaders(She is the Stake Camp Director.) It’s the back of a pair of wranglers with the pockets left on and some material sewn around the edges. She said “I needed some pockets.” I love the look on grandma's face!!! thats how hard the wind was blowing---wiped the smile right off her face.

Its always good to go home every now and then. Just for the memories. And boy the one memory that I had forgot about was the wind. Man it blew like crazy.
On the way up we stopped and played in the snow. you would have thought that it would have been cold. Not bad. Guhner had a great time.

Dads Ramblings!!!

Lindsey was promoted today. She is now a Freshman. Yup! the attitude is there also. She is sad and excited. She is such a good influence in our lives and even if she did get all A's and one B on her final grades. It was kind of cool that they also put the National Honor Society sticker on her Diploma. (Just like her mom, I swear!!)

This is what a goose egg looks like!?!?! Nash and Lindsey were playing in the kitchen and he fell chasing her. Cried a little. Got up and went up stairs with the kids and fell down the stairs. Shelly was worried and I just told her ”just look at it this way, look at the education that he got today!!” He is really a fun kid.

Got in the pool last Monday for FHE. Eric and Christine came over and swam. Guhner is really swimming swimming well. Addie-may is getting used to and not a bit scared. Ive finally taught Nash that he don’t go in the water without holding on to Grandpa. He will run up to the side, sit down and wait.
Shelly is going to use the pool a lot this year. Pregnant women need to relax and chill out.

It is kind of a lazy day . something unusual for around here. The wind is blowing and its raining. Go figure—Arizona and no sunshine and its cold.
Had a great time Bowling the other night. Mom brought up that I need to spend more time bowling and not gabbing with all the other Scouters in the District. You know how I am when it comes to anything to do with the young mens programs.
Grandma Perkins flew in from Guatemala yesterday. We will be taking her back to Taylor on Friday night.
Went by Deanna and Donny’s yesterday and took the water pump off of their washer for them. Donny is supposed to get the water pump today so he can re-install it. If not I will go by and help him install it. I just love it when Emma and Merrek come running when they know it either grandpa or grandma.

We are excited to have a new (future) daughter-in-law. Naomi Mueller. But only if her father says yes. I told Jared he better get of his duppus and soon as his feet hit the ground in Portland. He better make a bee line to talk to her dad. (Kind of hard when your in Az. and he’s in Or.) Naomi is a sweet, intelligent, spiritual and a respectful girl. (Strong willed and knows how to handle Jared. Just what he needs.)
well enough Ramblings!

Guess what? We cleaned the calcium build up around the inside of the pool today. It was work but before we refill the pool mom wanted to get rid of the ring. Have to get it ready for the grandkids. Oh and their parents.
Its nice not having to go to a public pool to swim in the summer. I refer to the public pools as cesspools. At least with your own pool you can control who is invited. Not just anyone can come and use it.
The Pool rules are:
· No kids in the pool without parents there!
· No running
· No loud noise after 10:00PM on week-days after 11:00pm on week-ends.
· Clean up your mess. If you get the pool toys out put them up.
· Sunday is not for swimming (Pool Closed) except for pregnant women to put their feet in and for everyone just sitting around talking and relaxing.
· Cordless phone needs to be by the pool on a table.
· No eeing in the ool. Notice there is no “P” in either word. Keep it that way in the pool.
· Keep food out of the pool. It can cause nasty algae if dropped in the water.
· These rules are rigidly flexible. Whatever grandma says goes. Not this grandma--Grandma McCleve. Grandma Perkins is just the Straw Boss on the Job!!!!

We have a new light that attaches to the umbrella on the table. It should work well when we want to play games or just sit and talk.
I’m looking for a gazebo to put over where the table sits. I’m just afraid of the wind and spending a lot of money to have the wind blow it down.
I really didn’t know what to blog about but I was told to update it.

What have you been doing so long papa? That was the question that was asked. How do you explain to a grandchild that you maintain a power plant?

Well I thought I would show you some of what I do.
This is some pictures of a overhaul that we are doing on the unit 1 gas turbine and steam turbine. Combined cycle.
This is the compressor that compresses the air and makes it denser. And then it goes into the gas turbine where it is added to the natural gas and is started on fire. The turbine starts turning and the generator shaft and the steam turbine shaft turns also. Once the air get through the gas turbine he hot air flows through a boiler and makes steam.

Then the steam is fed into the steam turbine that helps turn the generator rotor. The generator turns and creates electricity.
Pretty simple huh?
When we align the all these components they have to be within .003 thousands of an inch. From end to end. That is the thickness of your hair. The components spin at 3600 rpm. If they are out of balance or not in line, they will come apart. Aaaah, Blow up. Its a lot of work to make electricity.
All the parts are really heavy. The compressor weighs about 10 tons. The generator rotor is about 45 tons and the steam turbine weighs about 41 tons.
Love Papa

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday!

It was great having everyone over last night. I think that seeing all your kids is the best birthday present any one can get.

Shelly and Nash came over first. Nash just loved having the door open and was able to come and go as he pleased. He had fun in the backyard. She brought a chocolate cake and it was good.

Eric, Christine and the kids came over next and had pizza with us. Deanna, Merrek and Emma came later, and brought me a HUGE cookie. Thanks Merrek

Shelly wasn’t feeling very well and Deanna drove her home.

It was a great Birthday!!

New Years Day

Well, New Years was fun. We had some of our grandkids to stay over with us. Nash, Guhner and Addison. Oh and Bryan and Michelle stayed with us also.;) Emma and Merrek stayed with Deanna and Donny. They went to the Insight Bowl. In Tempe. Marcus first went to Tyler’s and then Jared and Marcus went to Eric and Christine’s to spend the night playing Rock Band.

New Years day was fun. I got up and made breakfast and had Addison and Nash help me. We had breakfast and then I call Oasis Golf Course for a Tee time. Had Eric, Bryan, Jared, Marcus and Donny go. We all got a lesson in humility as the wind was blowing and we found out that our Golf Balls are magnets. Every time we hit them they were attracted to a house or a car! Just kidding!!!! We had a great time. All the Girls stayed at the house and did girl stuff. Grandma was in heaven having all her kids at home. Its fun to have all of them home and we enjoy every minute of it.

Late in the afternoon Deanna and Donny took Emma and Merrek to the movies and the rest of us went to E&C house to play Rock Band. Had a great dinner and talked and enjoyed each others company. I was humbled that Eric downloaded a song from Creedance and I realized even though I know the song, I don’t know the song!!!!

“I believe at least trying is far better than living vicariously thru your kids experiences”. I tried Rock-Band and know now that it is better to live vicariously. I REALLY stunk. I can’t even play the radio and my kids wanted me to play rock band!?!?! Mom did great. It was fun to have an occasion to be together.
